Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to describe the changes between the two maps, but it fails to clearly distinguish between the 2007 and 2010 data. The description is confusing, and the information is presented in a fragmented manner that makes it difficult to follow the chronological development. While some features like the bus station and car parks are mentioned, the lack of clarity regarding which features belong to which year prevents a full overview. The summary is underdeveloped, and the main features are not highlighted effectively, leading to a failure to provide a clear comparison as required by the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks logical progression. Paragraphing is present but does not serve to organize the information effectively, as the content within the paragraphs is repetitive and disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, and the referencing is often unclear (e.g., 'beside of the city hospital made a public car park'). The overall arrangement is confusing, and the reader struggles to follow the sequence of events or the spatial relationships described in the maps. The lack of clear transitions between sentences and paragraphs significantly hinders the flow of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. There is a heavy reliance on basic, repetitive words, and the student frequently uses incorrect terminology, such as 'architacte' instead of 'constructed' or 'built', and 'it can saw a remove a lights' which is non-standard. Many phrases are awkward and do not convey the intended meaning clearly. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the visual data accurately, and the persistent errors in word choice and collocation make the text difficult to interpret at times.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, with many sentences being fragments or run-on sentences. Subject-verb agreement is consistently incorrect (e.g., 'The both maps illustrates'), and there is a misuse of prepositions and articles throughout the text. Complex structures are largely absent, and the attempts at them are faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, further complicating the readability of the response. The high frequency of errors indicates a lack of control over basic grammatical rules.
