Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response identifies the main features of the maps, such as the addition of roundabouts and the reorganization of parking and bus stops. However, the description is somewhat fragmented and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. While the key developments are mentioned, the lack of precise spatial language makes it difficult for the reader to visualize the changes. The response would benefit from a more structured approach, clearly contrasting the 2007 layout with the 2010 layout to better highlight the transformation of the hospital's road access.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often repetitive (e.g., 'and', 'there were'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the other one were on city road', which does not clearly specify the location. The transition between the description of 2007 and 2010 is abrupt, and the overall flow of information is hindered by the lack of varied linking words or phrases to guide the reader through the comparison.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple nouns and verbs like 'road', 'hospital', 'parking', and 'change'. There is little attempt to use more sophisticated or precise vocabulary related to map descriptions, such as 'intersection', 'junction', 'relocated', or 'expanded'. Some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'toe roundabouts' (likely a spelling error for 'two') and 'beside crossing hospital Rd'. The range is sufficient to convey the basic message, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The main change were', 'there were toe roundabouts', 'car parking were also changed') and article usage. Sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by errors in punctuation and word order. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical mistakes prevents the text from reaching a higher level of accuracy.
