Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the changes between the two maps, but it fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. The description is often confusing, making it difficult to follow the spatial changes (e.g., 'Front evaluation of way is covered with greens trees'). While the response identifies some changes, such as the relocation of the bus stop and parking areas, the lack of a clear summary and the inaccurate description of the layout prevent it from fully addressing the task. The information is presented in a fragmented way rather than as a coherent comparison of the two time periods.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'Whereas, on the other hand' and 'After three years'. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to visualize the changes described. For instance, the transition between the upper and lower sections of the map is abrupt and lacks a clear spatial anchor. The overall structure is present, but the internal flow of information is disjointed and often confusing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'more crowdy' instead of 'more crowded' and 'Front evaluation of way' which is unclear. The student relies on basic descriptive terms and struggles to use precise terminology to describe map features (e.g., 'round circle' instead of 'roundabout'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in collocation limit the effectiveness of the communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The two map illustrates'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'public car parking is shifted to adjacent to east side corner'. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often inaccurate or syntactically flawed. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which further detracts from the readability of the text. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading is required.
