Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the relocation of the car park and the bus stop. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks precision. For example, describing the bus stop as 'directly move at near city hospital' is vague and does not accurately capture the structural changes to the road network. Furthermore, the inclusion of subjective observations like 'trees... that looks very nice' is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which requires an objective summary of data. To improve, focus on reporting the specific changes in infrastructure and layout without personal commentary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'formost point is that' and 'On that time' are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow of ideas. Additionally, the transition between the description of 2007 and 2010 is abrupt. To improve, use a wider range of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'the latter', 'the former') is used correctly to connect sentences and ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'changes', 'area', and 'move'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'many distance' instead of 'a significant distance' and 'saperate' (spelling error). The language lacks the precision required to describe spatial changes effectively. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more specific vocabulary related to maps and urban planning, such as 'relocated', 'constructed', 'extended', or 'adjacent'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('public car park shift'), article usage ('the most changes'), and prepositions ('at left side'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors, such as 'so poeple can easily using bus services'. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense and pluralisation would significantly improve your score.
