Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main features, such as the new roundabouts, the bus station, and the changes to the car parks, the analysis is underdeveloped. You have not provided a clear overview or sufficient detail to fully describe the changes between 2007 and 2010. To improve, you should aim to describe the locations more precisely and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive summary of the visual data provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and limited (e.g., 'firstly', 'secondly', 'moreover'). The flow between sentences is somewhat disjointed, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'a diversion of car park for staff and public'. To improve, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that your sentences connect logically to guide the reader through the changes shown on the maps.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'stuff', 'new', and 'removed'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'an additions of some new stuff' and 'a diversion of car park'. To achieve a higher band, you should use more precise vocabulary related to maps and urban planning, such as 'constructed', 'relocated', 'transformed', or 'expanded'. Avoid informal language like 'stuff' and focus on using academic terminology appropriate for a report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('bus stop are removed') and article usage ('a area at the east side'). The sentence structures are relatively simple, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the use of complex sentences to describe changes over time.
