Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, significantly impacting the ability to fully address the task. The description of the maps is fragmented and lacks a clear overview of the key changes between 2007 and 2010. While some features are mentioned, such as the car park and bus stop, the comparison between the two years is largely absent. The information provided is insufficient to report the main features effectively, and the response is far too brief to develop the ideas required for an Academic Task 1 report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and do not flow logically. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often misused, such as the abrupt transition 'Therefore' at the start of the final paragraph, which does not logically follow the previous information. The referencing is unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial descriptions of the hospital maps.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'ways' and 'part', which are insufficient for describing map features accurately. There are significant issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'leftwest corner' and 'bottom east of ring road', which are not standard geographical descriptions. The lack of precise terminology for map features (e.g., 'roundabout', 'junction', 'access point') prevents the communication of clear information.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There are frequent errors in basic sentence construction, such as 'The city hospital on 2007 there was four ways' and 'The hospital in the way very popular city'. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are consistently inaccurate. These errors frequently impede communication, making it difficult to understand the intended meaning of the spatial descriptions.
