Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the changes to car parking and the introduction of roundabouts. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention that 'some places added' and 'some places are combined', this is vague. To improve, you should explicitly highlight the most significant changes, such as the shift from a shared car park to separate staff and public facilities, and the reorganization of the bus station. The report is functional but lacks the precision required for a higher band, as some details are described in a way that is difficult to follow.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive. Phrases like 'In 2007' and 'In 2010' are used to signal time, but the internal flow within paragraphs is often choppy. For example, the sentence 'Two circles added between city hospital and road' lacks a proper transition or clear reference to the previous information. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would help create a smoother progression of ideas between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple verbs like 'added', 'removed', and 'constructed'. There is also some awkward phrasing, such as 'joint with two circle' and 'cross road between many bus stops'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise terminology for describing map changes, such as 'converted', 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'integrated'. Additionally, ensure that you use nouns and adjectives correctly to describe the infrastructure changes more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly regarding articles ('the' is often missing) and verb forms. For instance, 'The two maps illustrates' should be 'illustrate', and 'city hospital had not any circle' is grammatically incorrect. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'which is now allowed for only staff members'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
