The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The two maps illustrate the infrastructural developments regarding road access to a city hospital between 2007 and 2010.

Overall, the area underwent significant modernization . The main changes included the introduction of roundabouts, a dedicated bus station, and the separation of the parking lots for staff and the public.

In 2007, the hospital was enclosed by a Ring Road, which connected to city road via Hospital Road. Six bus stops were located on either side of hospital Road. To the east of Hospital Road, a single park served both staff and the public.

By 2010, several modifications were made to improve traffic flow and accessibility. Two roundabouts were constructed: one at the intersection of the Ring Road and Hospital Road and City Road. The six original bus stop were removed and replaced by a dedicated bus station on the west side of Hospital Road, which connected both the roundabouts. Furthermore, the original car park became exclusively for staff. A new, separate public car park was built on the eastern side of the hospital, accessible directly via the Ring Road.
