IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The two maps illustrate the difference in the access of road to a city hospital in 2007 and in 2010.

Overall, there was the addition of two roundabouts, one in front of the hospital and the other on the junction of the city road and the hospital road. There were also some amenities included in the modified map.

On the one hand, there was no alternation in the city road but the addition of a roundabout at the junction of the city and hospital roads in 2010. Additionally, on the eastern side of the hospital road, the staff car park sustained their position, but on the western side, there was the addition of the bus station, which connected to both roundabouts.

Furthermore, on one end of the hospital road, there was the addition of a roundabout that was in infront of the hospital. On the eastern side of the hospital, a public car park was constructed. There was no change that occurred in the ring road structure. The lights on the side of the hospital were removed in latest map.
