Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the addition of roundabouts and the relocation of parking facilities. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive rather than analytical. It lacks a clear overview or summary statement that highlights the most significant changes, such as the shift from a simple road access to a more complex system involving roundabouts and a ring road. The mention of '2020' in the introduction is a factual error, as the prompt specifies 2010. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary paragraph that synthesizes the main trends rather than just listing features chronologically.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into two paragraphs, which is appropriate for a comparison task. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited, relying heavily on simple temporal markers like 'first' and 'after that'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'the map of the road was marked', which does not clearly convey the intended meaning. To reach a higher band, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between the two maps is explicitly stated through comparative language.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. Phrases like 'massive change' and 'the city hospital is present' are somewhat simplistic. There is a reliance on basic directional language (e.g., 'west side', 'east side'). To improve, incorporate more specific vocabulary related to urban planning and map description, such as 'infrastructure', 'facilitate', 'relocated', or 'integrated'. The spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is limited to common, everyday terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'in these two maps we see a change in the road map of city hospital with in the time period' contains unnecessary prepositions and awkward phrasing. There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement, such as 'the map of the road was marked'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence construction and article usage.
