Student answer (Band 5.0)

So as we can see that in 2007 there is a common car parking for both staff and public but in 2010 there are seperate parking for both staff and public transport which is a good and required update as it has many benefits as it reduces the complexity and also saves time. In 2007 there was a single lane Hospital road whereas in 2010 two circles were built which is also an important change it saves time and help to reduce the complexity of driving as sometimes the turn becomes blind so circle is more preffered and with these circles public bus station had also connected two different gates are given which is a good thing. So, these are some basic changes that are made between year [redacted phone].

As we can sea that the hospital has mainly focused upon the entries and exit, seperations , multiple entry points etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response identifies the main changes, such as the separation of parking and the introduction of roundabouts. However, the analysis is superficial and relies on subjective commentary (e.g., 'which is a good and required update') rather than objective reporting of the data. The task requires a neutral, analytical summary of the visual information, not an opinion on whether the changes are beneficial. Furthermore, the response lacks a clear overview of the most significant trends, such as the overall expansion of access points. To improve, focus on describing the physical changes in a formal tone and provide a concise summary of the main developments in the introduction or conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into two short paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is repetitive and simplistic, relying heavily on 'and' and 'so'. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, and the lack of clear paragraphing structure makes the text feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast' to connect sentences and ideas more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus, such as one for parking changes and another for road layout modifications.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent use of basic terms like 'good', 'changes', and 'things'. There are also issues with word choice and spelling, such as 'seperate' (separate), 'preffered' (preferred), and 'sea' (see). The response lacks the precise, technical vocabulary required for describing maps, such as 'relocated', 'constructed', 'converted', or 'integrated'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more specific terminology related to urban planning and infrastructure, and ensure that your spelling is accurate throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'So as we can see that in 2007 there is...' is grammatically awkward, and the sentence structure is often run-on. There are also errors in subject-verb agreement and punctuation, such as the misuse of commas and the lack of capitalization in some areas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. Aim for more varied sentence structures, such as using passive voice to describe the changes to the hospital infrastructure.
