Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the changes in parking, the new entrance, and the addition of the roundabout. However, the description is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of the 'hospital layout' being 'completely changed' is vague, as the hospital building itself remains in the same location. The comparison between 2007 and 2010 is present, but it lacks a clear overview of the most significant changes, such as the transition from a single parking area to separate staff and public facilities. To reach a higher band, you should focus on grouping information more logically and providing more precise details about the spatial changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from 2007 to 2010. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Moving further towards the second diagram' and 'After that'. The referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, 'hospital roasd in center' lacks a clear subject. While the overall structure is coherent, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'roasd', 'paitent', 'enterance', 'roundanout', and 'redisgned'. Additionally, some word choices are unnatural, such as 'pictorial representation' and 'new way after reconstructed'. While you successfully use terms like 'radical changes' and 'evident', the frequent spelling mistakes and limited range of vocabulary prevent a higher score. Focusing on accurate spelling and using more precise terminology related to maps (e.g., 'situated', 'relocated', 'expanded') would significantly improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'hospital roasd in in between', 'area was expanded after three year', and 'hospital retained on its previous place'. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction is noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and proofreading for basic grammatical slips.
