Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some key features of the maps, such as the addition of the bus station and car parks, the analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task. You have not provided an overview or a clear comparison of the overall changes. The response is too brief to adequately report the main features, and the lack of development means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you write a clear introduction, a summary of the main trends, and detailed supporting paragraphs that meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks paragraphing and is written as a single, run-on block of text. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, making the flow of information disjointed. The progression of ideas is unclear, as you jump between features without a logical structure. To improve, you must organize your writing into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs for specific details. Use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'additionally' to connect your sentences and improve the overall flow of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. You rely on simple phrases like 'they have' and 'they also have' throughout the text. There is no attempt to use more sophisticated or academic vocabulary suitable for a report on visual data. Words like 'beautifull' are misspelled, and the phrasing is informal and conversational rather than academic. To improve, focus on learning vocabulary related to describing changes, such as 'constructed', 'extended', 'introduced', or 'transformed', and avoid using informal language like 'today i'm'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammar is weak, with frequent errors that impede clarity. There is a lack of punctuation, which results in long, run-on sentences. You struggle with basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency (e.g., 'they don't have' vs 'they also not have'). There is no evidence of complex sentence structures, which are necessary for higher band scores. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using correct punctuation to separate your ideas. Review the use of articles and pluralization as well.
