Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the maps, including the addition of roundabouts, the new bus station, and the relocation of car parks. However, the description of the 2007 map is slightly confusing, particularly the phrase 'somehow empty' and the vague description of the 'hospital Rd'. The comparison between the two years is generally clear, but some spatial relationships are imprecise (e.g., 'in the center of the road'). To reach a higher band, ensure that all locations are described with greater precision and that the overview highlights the most significant changes more effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two time periods. Cohesive devices such as 'In 2007', 'In 2010', and 'Nevertheless' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'the majority of factors included in 2007 diagram does not change'. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns or references clearly point to the intended features would enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with terms like 'roundabouts', 'facilities', and 'healthcare building'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'somehow empty' to describe a map and 'the majority of factors' when referring to physical features. The phrase 'southern east corner' is also non-standard; 'southeastern' would be more appropriate. While the range is sufficient to convey the main points, more precise and varied vocabulary would elevate the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the majority of factors... does not change' should be 'do not change') and missing articles ('in the center of the road'). Additionally, the sentence 'In 2007, the roads... were somehow empty, a ring road in the northern part...' is a fragment lacking a main verb for the list of items. While these errors do not prevent understanding, they occur frequently enough to limit the score.
