Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this two maps we will we going to discuss about a development near city hospital in two different years 2007 and 2010.
Firstly there were six bus stops in 2007 and it devloped and they add two roundabouts which connects both hospital and bus station on hospital road in 2010 and devloped a big bus station in north connected roundabouts. Furthermore there was only a solo car park for both staff and for the public between city road and city hospital which was constructed only staff car park between city hospital and city road and built big public car park in east on ring road.
They connected all the road city center road, ring road so traffic flow go fluently. Overall there devloped and big public car park and roundabouts which connects all road very well and big bus station so numerous people can directly access the city hospital easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have identified the main changes, such as the addition of roundabouts, the new bus station, and the changes to car parking. However, the response lacks a clear overview of the overall trends. The description of the car parks is somewhat confusing, as the distinction between the 2007 and 2010 layouts is not clearly articulated. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the most significant changes in the introduction or conclusion, and use more precise language to describe the spatial relationships between the hospital, roads, and new facilities.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'and' to join clauses. The transition between the description of the bus station and the car park is abrupt. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') to create a smoother flow between sentences and ideas. Ensure that referencing is clear so the reader knows exactly which map or feature is being discussed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive and lacks precision. Phrases like 'it devloped' and 'they add' are simplistic. There are also some errors in word choice, such as 'solo car park' (which is not standard usage in this context) and 'traffic flow go fluently'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more descriptive, academic vocabulary related to maps and urban planning, such as 'constructed', 'relocated', 'expanded', or 'integrated'. Avoid informal phrasing and ensure collocations are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'In this two maps we will we going to', 'they add two roundabouts which connects', and 'there devloped and big public car park'. Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are problematic throughout the text. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that you use the correct past tense for describing the 2007 map and present or present perfect for the 2010 changes.
