Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, including the changes to the car park, the bus station, and the road layout. However, the overview is somewhat weak and lacks detail. While you mention that the hospital underwent changes, you could have been more specific about the nature of these changes, such as the shift from a single car park to a more complex system involving a ring road. The description of the roundabout additions is accurate, but the overall summary could be more analytical by grouping the changes more effectively. The response addresses the prompt adequately but lacks the depth required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of information. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In the subsequent steps' and 'Getting into further details of layout'. These transitions feel a bit forced for a report on maps. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and clarity; for example, the phrase 'the one more roundabout' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'layout', 'upgraded', and 'converted'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'was underwent' (should be 'underwent') and 'new Bus station was introduce' (should be 'introduced'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication needed for a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to map descriptions, such as 'the hospital access was reconfigured' or 'a new bus station was constructed'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while they do not impede communication, are noticeable. Examples include 'their is parking space' (should be 'there is'), 'the both roundabout was' (should be 'both roundabouts were'), and missing articles throughout the text (e.g., 'in front of hospital'). The control over subject-verb agreement and pluralization needs improvement. While you attempt complex sentences, the errors within them prevent the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy.
