Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the changes between the two maps, but the information is presented in a fragmented and often confusing manner. While the main features (roundabout, bridge, parking) are mentioned, the description of the road access is difficult to follow due to unclear spatial references. The overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the most significant changes. The response fails to effectively compare the two maps, instead listing features in a way that does not clearly highlight the evolution of the hospital's accessibility. More precise reporting of the specific locations and changes is required to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of logical progression. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'While', and 'In summary', but they are often applied incorrectly or mechanically, which hinders the reader's understanding. The referencing is unclear; for example, phrases like 'go to stright road' and 'reach hospital' do not clearly link to the visual information provided. The logical connection between sentences is often missing, making the overall structure feel disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'facility', 'road', and 'hospital'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'people very strugle' and 'city hast more facility'. The student attempts to describe the changes, but the lack of precise terminology for map features (e.g., 'roundabout', 'junction', 'access point') limits the ability to communicate clearly. The spelling of 'separetly' and 'stright' also indicates a need for more attention to accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The two maps illustrates'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the reader's ability to grasp the intended meaning, particularly when describing the movement or location of the hospital access points.
