Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the addition of the roundabout and the relocation of parking and bus stops. However, the description is somewhat repetitive and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention that 'facilities were added', you could improve by highlighting the most significant changes more clearly, such as the improved road infrastructure. The conclusion is redundant, as it repeats information already stated about the hospital's location. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more precise and that the overview synthesizes the information rather than just listing changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly forced. The referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, 'that area' in the second paragraph is a bit vague. Additionally, the final sentence of the conclusion is repetitive and does not add new value to the summary. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each sentence contributes unique information would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the changes in the maps. You use terms like 'accessibility', 'roundabout', and 'reconstruction'. However, there is some repetition of basic words like 'location', 'position', and 'city'. To improve, try to use a wider range of synonyms and more precise collocations. For instance, instead of saying 'the location of a hospital were never changed', you could use 'the hospital remained in its original position'. The word choice is functional but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage. For example, you wrote 'the location of a hospital were never changed' (should be 'was') and 'hospital road were surrounded' (should be 'was'). There are also issues with pluralization, such as 'a major change of a bus stop that it was located'. While you attempt some complex structures, the frequent errors in basic grammar and tense consistency hinder the clarity of your writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses will significantly improve your score.
