Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the addition of roundabouts and the separation of parking facilities. However, the description is somewhat superficial. For instance, it fails to mention the new bus station or the specific road names (Hospice Road and City Road) which are crucial for a clear summary. The overview is present but lacks detail regarding the significant infrastructure changes, such as the introduction of the bus station. To reach a higher band, you should focus on providing a more comprehensive comparison of the specific changes between the two years rather than just general observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'In the year 2010' and 'overall' are used, but the transition between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'one is public car parking and to other is for the staff', where the connection to the previous clause is slightly awkward. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would enhance the flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. You rely on general terms like 'accessibilities' and 'improved capabilities', which are not the most natural collocations in this context. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'juts beside' (likely a typo for 'just') and 'division in the parking lot'. To improve, try to use more specific terminology related to urban planning and infrastructure, such as 'junction', 'segregated', or 'facilitate'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. For example, 'The city hospital in 2007 shows that there is a single road' is slightly awkward; it would be better to say 'The map of the city hospital in 2007 shows...'. Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'there has been many changes'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score.
