The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this, they presented two maps of road access to a city hospital, one from 2007 and another from 2010.
In both sketch map we see there are some countable modifications in 2010, there are also some mutual structures. In 2010, I witnessed hospital management provide public transport, and with that they also separated Car and Staff parking, and this was very important for the City hospital management to maintain traffic.
After this, in 2010, faculty displaced the straight roads in the dual roundabout to maintain the constant flow of traffic, and nothing could cause resistance in critical situation, and as we see in both years 2007 and 2010 ring road and entrance, also exit path of Hospital are same.
In 2010, they provided staff car parking in front of the hospital, and Public car parking on the right side of the Hospital
At the end, we see that there were significant enhancement and also very precise map of 2010 as compared 2006 map.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response identifies the main features of the maps, such as the introduction of roundabouts and the separation of parking facilities. However, the report is hampered by a lack of objectivity and clarity. The use of first-person pronouns like 'I witnessed' is inappropriate for an academic report. Furthermore, the description of the changes is somewhat disorganized, and the comparison between the two years is not always precise. While the main trends are covered, the analysis lacks the professional tone required for Task 1, and some details, such as the mention of '2006' in the conclusion, are factually inconsistent with the provided prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or awkward, such as 'After this' and 'At the end'. The logical flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors and informal phrasing. While there is an attempt to group information, the progression of ideas is not always smooth, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when describing the location of the parking areas. The overall structure is functional but lacks the sophistication expected at higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the basic information, but it lacks the precision and academic register required for this task. Phrases like 'countable modifications' and 'nothing could cause resistance' are unnatural and imprecise. The student relies on basic descriptive language rather than using specific terminology related to urban planning or map analysis. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'faculty' to describe road infrastructure, which is incorrect. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to maps and trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'In both sketch map we see' (subject-verb agreement and pluralization issues) and 'as compared 2006 map' (missing preposition). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and capitalization errors. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading and basic sentence structure is necessary.
