Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the addition of roundabouts and the new bus station. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention the car parks, the comparison is slightly inaccurate; for instance, you state the staff car park remained in the same place, but the map shows the public car park moved to the east. The overview is also quite brief. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the two car parks and provide a more cohesive summary of the major changes rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical (e.g., 'firstly', 'secondly', 'in addition to this'). The flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the opening paragraph where the sentence structure is fragmented. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes accurately. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic verbs like 'built' and 'constructed' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'developmental changes had done road access' and 'looking from an overall perspectives'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to urban planning and spatial description, such as 'extended', 'relocated', 'transformed', or 'situated'. Additionally, ensure that your word forms are correct to avoid distracting the reader from your main points.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with article usage ('in southwest of city hospital'), subject-verb agreement ('there two roundabout constructed'), and tense consistency ('bus station was build'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting more complex constructions. While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors impede the flow and accuracy of the report. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct verb forms (e.g., 'built' instead of 'build'), and proper preposition usage will help improve your score in this area.
