Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the main features of the maps, noting the addition of the bus station and the reconfiguration of the parking lots. However, there are significant factual inaccuracies regarding the years, such as referring to '2001' instead of '2007'. Furthermore, the word count is 144 words, which falls short of the minimum 150-word requirement, resulting in a penalty. The overview is quite basic and misses some prominent spatial relationships, such as the changes to the entrance and the removal of certain roundabouts or roads. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, earning a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay attempts a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs for details, and a brief overall concluding sentence. However, the progression is disjointed due to poor paragraphing and abrupt transitions like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'public parking was get in attached with the side road'. Cohesive devices are repetitive and basic. Paragraphing is attempted but lacks clear functional control, which keeps the coherence at a Band 5.0 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very limited and repetitive, with basic errors in word choice and spelling throughout the text, such as 'illustrates' used with a plural subject ('maps illustrates'), 'permission' instead of 'layout' or 'access', 'enterance', 'jointed', 'Pblic', and 'seperated'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary result in unnatural collocations like 'bus station was alloted' or 'lesser traffics problems'. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, which corresponds to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, such as 'public parking was get in attached with'. There are persistent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The two maps illustrates', 'parking was seperated') and incorrect comparative forms ('more broader'). Punctuation and spelling errors are also frequent. Because errors frequently occur and can cause some difficulty for the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
