The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.
Student answer (Band 7.5)
The two maps describe the changes in road access and transportation facilities to a City Hospital between 2007 and 2010.
Overall, the hospital area underwent significant development to improve access for both public and staff. The most notable changes were the addition of a roundabout, separate car parks, and a new bus station, while the bus stops on Hospital Road were removed.
In 2007, access to the City Hospital was via Hospital Road, which connected City Road in the south to the Ring Road in the north. Along Hospital Road there were six bus stops, and there was a single car park to the east of the road, designated for both staff and the public.
By 2010, several major changes had been made. A roundabout was constructed at the junction of Hospital Road and City Road, and Hospital Road itself was extended to connect directly with the Ring Road. The bus stops were removed and replaced with a bus station on the west side of Hospital Road. Furthermore, the original car park was divided into two: a public car park to the east of the hospital, and a separate staff car park to the south.
