Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response makes an attempt to compare the two maps from 2007 and 2010 by noting general developments, such as the introduction of parking areas, a roundabout, and the relocation of the bus station. However, the response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, containing only 82 words. Consequently, the information is severely under-developed, and several key features from the maps—such as the specific changes to the ring road, staff parking, and public parking separation—are omitted or presented in an overly generalized and vague manner. Because the task is only partially addressed due to the significant under-length issue and limited detail, it falls into the lower band categories.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The text is divided into three very short paragraphs, which gives it some basic structural framework. However, there is a distinct lack of clear overall progression and logical sequencing between ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'In 2007 the city hospital were not have...' followed abruptly by 'Now more convinient...'. The referencing between sentences is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information smoothly. Paragraphing is attempted, but the extreme brevity of the text prevents effective organization.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling and word-choice errors that restrict precision. Examples include 'convinient' instead of convenient, 'permices' instead of premises, and 'chahged' instead of changed. The writer attempts some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'hospital', 'parking', 'roundabout', and 'bus station', but the range is limited and minimally adequate. Due to noticeable spelling and morphological errors ('were not have', 'given bus station'), the lexical resource struggles to convey meaning clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple and heavily flawed sentence structures. There are persistent, basic errors in verb tenses, auxiliary verbs, and prepositions throughout the text. For instance, 'the city hospital were not have' demonstrates incorrect verb formation, and 'given bus station in hospital permices' lacks necessary articles and prepositions. Complex structures are attempted unsuccessfully or omitted entirely. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and impede comprehension.
