Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response attempts to describe the main changes between the two maps of the city hospital in 2007 and 2010. However, the information is presented in a very fragmented and confusing manner. While some key features are mentioned, such as the car parks, bus station, and new roundabouts, important comparisons are poorly articulated. The overview lacks clarity, and the description of spatial relationships is often imprecise or incorrect, such as 'ring road around the city hospital' in 2007 and the vague positioning of the car parks. This places the response in the lower-middle bands for task fulfillment.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear logical organisation and progression. The paragraphs are poorly structured, and sentences are often disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. Cohesive devices are either missing, repetitive, or misused, such as 'Inaddition', 'Althrough', and 'Therefore'. Referencing between ideas is weak, and the lack of proper paragraphing to separate the 2007 features from the 2010 developments significantly impedes the overall flow and readability of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple terms like 'map', 'hospital', 'road', and 'car park'. There are numerous spelling and word-choice errors, including 'ta' instead of 'to', 'inprovements' instead of 'improvements', 'Inaddition', 'Althrough' instead of 'Although', and 'frount' instead of 'front'. The range of vocabulary is strictly limited and inadequate for a standard academic task, frequently causing strain and confusion for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response shows a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences contain basic grammatical errors, missing verbs, or incorrect prepositions, such as 'The both given maps illustrate that road access ta a city hospital', 'The given maps shows', and 'a road is connect to the city hospital'. Complex structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, such as 'one map in 2007 year shown a junction east side...'. Punctuation is also weak, and frequent errors interfere with the clarity of the message.
