Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the task by describing the main features of the maps from 2007 and 2010. However, there are notable inaccuracies and omissions in the data reporting. For instance, the student states that two roundabouts were added in the center of the city road, whereas the map shows one roundabout at the intersection with Ring Road and another at City Road. Additionally, the description of the bus stops and staff car park is slightly confused ('staff car park was constructed on the place of bus stope'). While an overview is attempted, it is somewhat weak and repetitive. Therefore, this performance meets the criteria for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into four paragraphs, including a brief introduction and an overall concluding sentence, which provides a basic structure. However, logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing ('several changes took place') and weak cohesive devices. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'another were constructed', which makes the flow mechanical and occasionally disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but overall cohesion is inadequate in places. This corresponds to a Band 5.0 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'stope' instead of 'stops', 'condtructed', 'eas' instead of 'was'). While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'surrounded', 'established', and 'roundabouts', the lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. Spelling and morphological errors occur frequently enough to cause some distraction for the reader. This performance aligns with Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and attempted complex sentence structures, but many sentences contain basic grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the given charts illustrates', 'city road eas situated') and prepositional errors ('in the left side', 'on the place of'). Punctuation is also erratic in places. While simple sentences are generally understandable, frequent errors in complex structures persist and occasionally impede smooth reading, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
