Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to cover the main changes between the two maps, such as the addition of the car park, roundabouts, and changes to bus services. However, the overview is extremely basic ('Ovrall in 2007 it was a semple maps'), and the word count falls short of the 150-word minimum, standing at 143 words. This leads to a penalty under Task Achievement. Furthermore, some descriptions are inaccurate or speculative, such as the statement about reasons for the bus station relocation ('becouse of noisy and disturb for petion'), which introduces outside ideas rather than summarising visual data. Ideas are under-developed and lack precision.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text lacks clear overall progression and logical paragraphing. The response is divided into very short, broken sentences and disjointed paragraphs that fail to guide the reader smoothly through the comparisons. Cohesive devices are minimal or misused, and referencing is frequently unclear (e.g., shifting abruptly between details without transitional markers). Although there is a rudimentary attempt to structure an introduction, body, and conclusion, the lack of cohesive control and poor paragraphing significantly disrupt the flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
Vocabulary is extremely basic, repetitive, and heavily flawed by severe spelling errors. Examples include 'semple' (simple), 'buld' (built), 'dident' (didn't), 'chenches' (changes), 'petion' (patients), and 'sied' (side). The writer attempts some task-specific vocabulary such as 'car park', 'roundabout', and 'bus station', but the persistent spelling mistakes and extremely limited range of appropriate lexical items restrict communication and fall well below the threshold for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. There are constant tense and agreement errors, such as 'The two maps shows' instead of 'show', 'they dident have', 'they haved jast', and 'In 2010 it is hapened a big chenches'. Complex sentence forms are virtually absent, and punctuation is weak. The high frequency of basic grammatical errors causes considerable difficulty for the reader.
