Student answer (Band 4.5)
The maps illustrates a city hospital road accessibility from 2007 to 2010.
In the west direction, the crossroad of the city road changed into a circular path. The northen east side of the circular area is separated staff car parking from a staff and public car parking. In the opposite side of this built a bus station.
The front of the circular path made another a same path and in the east of the city hospital made a car park on the outer side. The outer side of the place destroyed a bus stand and made a new roundabout.
In conclusion, the main difference in the both maps is public car park, the replacement of bus stand and roundabouts

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to describe the changes shown in the maps, mentioning the new roundabouts, the car parks, and the bus station. However, the description is confusing, inaccurate in places, and fails to provide a clear, well-developed overview. For instance, the statement that the 'crossroad of the city road changed into a circular path' misinterprets the layout, and key spatial relationships are described vaguely (e.g. 'In the opposite side of this built a bus station'). Furthermore, the response is significantly under-length, containing only 117 words compared to the required 150-word minimum. This severely limits the depth of coverage and overall task completion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is divided into brief paragraphs, including a distinct concluding sentence. However, logical organization and progression are weak. Sentences often feel disjointed, and cohesive devices are either missing or misused, making it difficult to follow the spatial transitions between 2007 and 2010. For example, expressions like 'In the front of the circular path made another a same path' lack clear referencing and logical progression. Paragraphing is rudimentary, and the overall structural flow is disrupted by grammatical errors and unclear phrasing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
Vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice errors that restrict precision. Terms like 'circular path' for roundabout, 'built a bus station' with awkward syntax, and 'destroyed a bus stand' demonstrate a limited lexical range that is barely adequate for the task. There are also noticeable issues with phrasing and collocation, such as 'northen east side of the circular area is separated staff car parking', which impede smooth communication and obscure the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited. The student relies on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex or passive forms (e.g., 'is separated staff car parking', 'this built a bus station', 'made a car park') are heavily flawed and ungrammatical. Errors occur in almost every sentence—including missing verbs, incorrect prepositions, and faulty word order—which frequently strains the reader and hinders comprehension.
