Student answer (Band 5.0)

The map illustrates the road access to a city hospital in between two rears 2007 and 2010 .

Overall, on 2007 in city hospital their is a ring road and there is a huge place for car parking for common public and staff members .

Now compare to 2010 city hospital has ring road and one Bus stop now there is a seperate parking for common people and staff members and there is a roundabout also added in the year 2010.

In the year 2007 the hospital is in developing stage and now compare to 2010 the city hospital os fully developed and there are more facilites than the 2007 city hospital.

2007 city hospital compare to 2010 city hospital ther is no huge change there is only slightly developed in 2010 only added bus stop and they seperated staff members parking and common people parking .

In contrast 2007 city hospital is good but comparet to 2010 new city hospital that one is the best.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to compare the two maps of the city hospital in 2007 and 2010. However, it fails to provide a clear, accurate overview and includes inaccurate or heavily generalized descriptions of the visual data. For instance, the student states that in 2007 the hospital was 'in developing stage' and in 2010 it is 'fully developed', which is subjective and not directly supported by the maps. Furthermore, while some features like the ring road, parking areas, and bus services are mentioned, key changes such as the addition of roundabouts, the restructuring of the car parks into separate staff and public zones, and the replacement of individual bus stops with a bus station are poorly detailed. Because the reporting of main features is inaccurate and lacks an effective overview, it corresponds to Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into short, disjointed paragraphs, many of which consist of only one or two sentences. There is a lack of logical progression and overall structure. The student attempts to use transition markers such as 'Overall', 'Now compare to', and 'In contrast', but cohesive devices are frequently repetitive, inaccurate, or clumsy (e.g., 'In the year 2007 the hospital is in developing stage and now compare to 2010...'). Paragraphing is poorly handled, as ideas about 2007 and 2010 are repeatedly brought up and contrasted across multiple separate short paragraphs rather than being grouped logically. This structural weakness limits the coherence of the text, placing it at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive ('car parking', 'common public', 'staff members', 'fully developed', 'huge change'). There are numerous word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'rears' instead of 'years', 'seperate' instead of 'separate', 'facilites' instead of 'facilities', and 'comparet' instead of 'compared'. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for conveying very basic ideas, but cannot handle precise descriptions of spatial arrangements or map changes. This fits the Band 5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simplistic or feature faulty complex structures, often resulting in run-on sentences or fragments (e.g., 'Overall, on 2007 in city hospital their is a ring road and there is a huge place for car parking for common public and staff members .'). Grammatical and punctuation errors are frequent: incorrect prepositions ('on 2007' instead of 'in 2007'), subject-verb agreement issues ('their is', 'city hospital has'), and spelling/typographical errors. These errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and impede clear communication, aligning with Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
