The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.
Student answer (Band 7.5)
The maps illustrate the road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Overall, the hospital underwent several significant changes, most notably the introduction of a dedicated public car park and a new bus station. In addition, the road system was modified through the construction of two roundabouts.
In 2007, the hospital was served by a road with several bus stops on both sides. There was also a shared car park for staff and the public on the south-eastern side of the hospital. At this time, no separate parking facility was available for visitors.
By 2010, a dedicated public car park had been added to the eastern side of the hospital, while the staff car park remained in its original location. Furthermore, a general bus station was constructed to the south-west of the hospital. This station was connected to both the city road and the hospital via two newly built roundabouts, improving access to the hospital.
