Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The two maps represents the changes made on road access to a city hospital from 2007 to 2010. The directions also include factors such as ring road, city hospital, car park: staff and public and bus stop.
Overall, it's crystal clear from the maps that hospital remained in the same place, but the surrounding have been dramatically changed.
The health care centre in 2007 does not have sperate parking facilities for staff and public. Whereas, in 2010 sperate car parking facilities are provided for general public and employers. Bus stop was on both the side of the streets in 2007. However, later in 2010 bus stop was given sperate place for easy access to public transport. In 2010, their was steadily change in central road roundabout was installed for citizens which will help in less traffic cognition.
The northern part of the map remains same only a minimal change can be witnessed that is public car park in the east lane of city hospital.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the task by describing the main differences between the 2007 and 2010 hospital road access maps. An overview is provided stating that the hospital remained in the same place while surroundings changed dramatically. However, there are several inaccuracies and a lack of precise detail when reporting features. For instance, the student states that the 2007 map did not have separate parking for staff and public, whereas the label clearly indicates 'Car park: staff and public' combined, which was then split into separate staff and public car parks in 2010. Additionally, expressions like 'steadily change in central road roundabout was installed' are vague and poorly supported by the data. The response meets the minimum length requirement, but the underdeveloped and imprecise reporting of specific map features places it at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, beginning with an introduction, followed by an overview, body details, and a concluding observation. However, the logical progression is hindered by awkward transitions and confusing statements, such as 'In 2010, their was steadily change in central road roundabout was installed'. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately (e.g., 'Whereas, in 2010 sperate car parking facilities...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks smooth flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the spatial relationships between the various map elements. Overall, the organizational structure shows basic coherence but suffers from mechanical and faulty cohesion, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text. Examples include 'sperate' instead of 'separate', 'employers' instead of 'employees', and 'cognition' instead of 'congestion'. There are also grammatical lexical errors such as 'steadily change' instead of 'steady change'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic (e.g., 'surroundings', 'facilities', 'public transport'), the high frequency of spelling mistakes ('sperate' used multiple times) and imprecise lexical choices strain the reader at times and limit the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The two maps represents', 'their was steadily change'), incorrect prepositions ('bus stop was on both the side', 'bus stop was given sperate place'), and punctuation errors. Complex structures are often faulty and obscure the intended meaning. Although the basic meaning can generally be deciphered, the high frequency of errors across sentences prevents the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.0 an appropriate score.
