The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Overall, the hospital remained in the same place, but several changes were made to the roads, car parks and transport facilities.

In 2007, City Hospital was surrounded by a ring road. There was a City Road to the south of the hospital, and Hospital Road connected the hospital with this road. There were parking spaces for staff and the public on the eastern side of Hospital Road. There were six bus stops side by side of hospital road. However, there was no bus station or roundabout in the area.

In 2010, the hospital was still in the same location, but the surrounding area had changed. A public car park was built on the eastern side of the hospital, while a staff car park was provided near Hospital Road. A bus station was also added to the west of the road. In addition, two roundabouts were constructed on Hospital Road to improve traffic movement.
