Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts to describe the changes shown in the two maps of the city hospital between 2007 and 2010. However, the task achievement is severely limited due to poor vocabulary, broken grammar, and a lack of clear overview or structured comparison. While the writer touches on some changes—such as the new public car park on the east and the addition of roundabouts—the information is presented in a very confused and disjointed manner. Important features like the bus station and the re-designated staff car park are muddled. The response fails to provide a clear, coherent summary of the visual data, resulting in a low band score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The organization of the response is extremely weak. The text is divided into brief, fragmented paragraphs that do not follow a logical structure or progression. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as abrupt transitions like 'As, empty space...' and 'In conclusion, develpoer inovation...'. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial relationships described in the maps. Paragraphing is present visually, but the internal coherence within paragraphs breaks down frequently due to non-standard phrasing and disjointed sentence sequences.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The lexical range is very basic and heavily flawed, with frequent word choice and spelling errors that constantly strain the reader's comprehension. Examples of non-standard or incorrect vocabulary include 'facilitaion', 'Develpoment', 'enviroment', 'efficent', 'facinate', and 'inovation'. The writer attempts to use some topic-related vocabulary such as 'roundabout', 'car park', and 'public transport', but these are often combined in unnatural collocations or ungrammatical phrases. The vocabulary is inadequate to convey the visual information accurately or with appropriate academic style.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. There is a very limited range of structures, and almost every sentence contains noticeable errors in syntax, tense, and punctuation. Examples include 'Map discribe the city health facilitaion centers road access', 'healthcare center seem very basic and informative to examin specific area', and 'empty space on east of hospital authorised for public parking area linking to ring road to lower traffic and couple of roundabout constructed'. Subject-verb agreement errors, missing articles, and fragments are pervasive, causing frequent difficulty for the reader and impeding smooth communication.
