Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given two maps illustrate how a road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Overall, the area underwent considerable developments, with several new facilities like bus station and roundabout being added and some existing features being removed.
In 2007, in the norther side of the city hospital there is a ring road, while on the southern side the city road located. After the city road, the hospital road went towards the city hospital and on the both side of the hospital road there were several bus stops. The car parking for the staff and the public was located on the eastern side of the hospital road.
In 2010, the locations of the ring road, hospital road and city road did not change. Moreover, the car parking area for the staff and the public had been separated. The public car parking place was in the right side of the city hospital, although the staff parking was in the right of the city hospital. In the left side of the hospital road, there was a bus station. Additionally, there were two roundabout on the hospital road so that the traffic did not jammed here.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all parts of the task by outlining the main features of the hospital access maps in 2007 and 2010 and highlighting key changes, such as the addition of roundabouts and a bus station, as well as modifications to the car parks. An overview is provided in the second paragraph, capturing the general trend of development. However, certain aspects are handled with uneven detail; for instance, the description of the car parking changes in 2010 is somewhat repetitive and confusing when contrasting the staff and public locations ("The public car parking place was in the right side of the city hospital, although the staff parking was in the right of the city hospital"). While the main features are selected, the development of these ideas lacks complete clarity in places, placing this aspect of the writing firmly at the targeted band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The report maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs detailing the two years. Information is sequenced logically so that the reader can follow the geographical progression from 2007 to 2010. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. The use of referencing and cohesive devices occasionally falters, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences in the final paragraph and imprecise locational referencing ("in the right side", "in the left side"). Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the response, but smoother transitions and more varied cohesive ties would be required to elevate the organizational quality further.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as "considerable developments", "facilities", and "modifications". There are clear attempts to use less common vocabulary like "intersections" or specific directional terms, though these are accompanied by lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as "road access to a city hospital" instead of "road access around" or "to the city hospital", and the repetition of directional phrases like "in the right side of the city hospital". Spelling is generally accurate, but minor word-choice errors and awkward phrasing prevent the vocabulary score from reaching a higher tier.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and prepositional phrases (e.g., "maps illustrate how a road access..."). However, there are frequent structural and grammatical errors throughout the text. Notable errors include missing articles and prepositions ("how a road access", "in the norther side", "on the both side"), tense inconsistencies (shifting awkwardly between past and present, as in "there is a ring road, while on the southern side the city road located"), and agreement errors ("two roundabout"). These errors reflect a limited control of grammatical structures, resulting in occasional strain for the reader.
