Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main features of the two maps, noting the changes to the bus infrastructure, roundabouts, and car parks between 2007 and 2010. However, the development is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion of the bus stops and terminals is reiterated across multiple paragraphs without adding fresh comparative insights. While an overview is attempted near the beginning, the overall progression and selection of details lack the thorough development required to fully satisfy higher criteria, resulting in a partial treatment of the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response presents information with some basic organization, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The essay is broken into multiple short paragraphs, yet the sequencing feels disjointed because information regarding the bus stations and car parks is repeated and revisited in later sections rather than logically grouped. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and repetitively, such as opening multiple paragraphs with phrases like 'from the image it is evident that' and 'An analysis from the image reveals that'. Paragraphing is underutilized and fails to effectively structure the comparison between the two years.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, with a limited and repetitive range. There are several noticeable word choice, form, and spelling errors, such as 'complety' instead of 'completely', 'consisiting' instead of 'consisting', and 'seperate' instead of 'separate'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'renovated' and 'infrastructure-related terms', but inaccuracies in spelling and collocation occur frequently, which occasionally causes strain for the reader and restricts the lexical score to a modest level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are frequently faulty or marred by basic structural errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('multiple updates was made'), missing articles ('hospital was renovated', 'Bus station'), and incorrect pluralization ('two new roundabout were constructed'). Frequent errors in basic sentence construction and prepositions persist throughout the response, causing some difficulty for the reader and indicating that grammatical control remains restricted.
