Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The two maps illustrate the layout of road structure near the city hospital in 2007 and 2010. Overall, major changes has been done in 2010 by contructing bus station near the hospital road and tranforming road junctions into roundabout to reduce traffic congestion.
The city hospital is still on the same place surrounded by ring road. The public car parking area has been built in 2010 at east side to facilitate locals to park their vehicles. however, there was only one car parking area for both staff and public at south of the hospital, then that area was dedicated to staff only in 2010. Bus station has been developed on the opposite of staff parking. Two roundabout constructed on the hospital road, one is connected with bus station and other one is connected with city road and bus station at south. Such establishment may made to facilitate public in terms of commuting feasibly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of the hospital access maps from 2007 to 2010. A clear overall trend is presented in the introduction, noting the construction of the new bus station and roundabouts. Key features are selected and compared, such as the transformation of the shared car park into a staff-only area, the addition of a new public car park on the east side of Ring Road, and the restructuring of road junctions. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalize or speculate on the purpose of the changes rather than strictly reporting the visual data, which keeps the response at this solid level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a clear overall logical arrangement, moving from a general overview to specific spatial details regarding the hospital surroundings, parking facilities, and transport links. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction and overview from the detailed body description. Cohesive devices are generally well managed, with appropriate use of referencing such as 'The city hospital is still on the same place' and contrast markers like 'however'. To move towards higher bands, referencing and logical transitions between sentences could be smoothed further to ensure progression feels entirely natural and seamless throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, successfully communicating key geographical and architectural features such as 'layout', 'roundabout', 'traffic congestion', and 'parking area'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'facilitate locals' and 'commuting feasibly', though these reveal occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. Additionally, there are a few word-form and spelling slips, such as 'contructing' instead of constructing and 'tranforming' instead of transforming. These errors do not impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the descriptions easily, but they prevent the score from reaching a higher level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at structures like passive voice ('has been done', 'was dedicated', 'Two roundabout constructed'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, articles, and pluralisation. For instance, 'major changes has been done' contains a subject-verb agreement error and awkward phrasing, 'on the same place' should be 'in the same place', and 'Two roundabout constructed' lacks necessary auxiliary verbs and plural marking. Punctuation errors are also present, such as starting a sentence with a lowercase 'however' after a full stop. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally decode the intended meaning.
