Student answer (Band 5.0)
The 2 different types of map illustrates the access to the city hospital form 2007 to 2010.
Overall, there is a close comparison between hospitals and also shows the compas at the right corner of the map.
In the first, the city hospital in 2007 starts from Ring Road and at the roght corner there is a bus stop while in the mid is hospital and after that there's a car park for both public and staff. However, in the last has a hospital road directly enters into the hospital and also attached with the city road.
In the second, city hospital in 2010 really renovate the hospital area and got some fantastic changes. In addition, the first change is that the public car park linked with the hospital at the right corner at the map. The second chnage is that, in the mid also built a round about for abulance or for cars and in the left corner constructed a bus station while the staff car park alos affixed with hospital road.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to describe the changes between the 2007 and 2010 maps, the information presented is limited, highly confused, and lacks a clear, accurate overview. Features are misread or unclearly described, such as stating that 'in the mid is hospital' or describing the bus station as being constructed 'in the left corner'. There is no genuine attempt to select and report the main features systematically, leading to an under-developed response that fails to present a clear picture of the spatial changes over the three-year period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organization present through the use of transitional words like 'Overall', 'In the first', and 'In the second', but there is no clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow of information is weak. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or mechanical, and referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow which map elements are being discussed. To reach a higher band, the student needs to logically group spatial details and ensure clear, unambiguous links between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling (such as 'compas' and 'chnage'), and word form (such as 'renovate' used where 'renovated' is intended), which occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student relies heavily on basic descriptors and struggles with precise mapping terminology. To improve, the student needs to build a wider range of functional vocabulary specifically related to describing spatial changes, trends, and locations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors when attempting more complex patterns. There are noticeable issues with subject-verb agreement ('The 2 different types of map illustrates'), incorrect prepositions ('at the right corner of the map', 'in the mid'), and missing or incorrect articles. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the student must improve control over basic sentence construction, verb forms, and prepositional phrases.
