Student answer (Band 5.5)
The rendered pair of maps illustrates imformation about road acess of city hospital in diffrent-diffrent years.
Overall, its crystal clear that many changes have seen in the hospital in both years but the City Hospital remains same in both timelines.
at the fleeting glance,it can be seen that the there are many bus stops in the year 2007 but later they will be vanished and a new bus station will constructed in 2010.Probing ahead it can be seen that there is parking for publicand staff in the year 2007 but in 2010 the public parking built in the right side of City Hospital and the old parking is remained only for staff.
Moving ahead, there is no roundabout in the year of 2007 but in 2010 a new roundabout is constructed in the year 2010 infront of hospital road . it is also assumed that the City Hospital remained same in both timelines nothing is changed in City Hospital.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all main features of the maps, including the changes to the car parks, the removal of bus stops, the addition of a bus station, and the introduction of roundabouts. The selection of data is generally appropriate, presenting a clear overall picture of the developments between 2007 and 2010. However, some parts of the task are addressed more fully than others; for example, the description of the bus stops and the new station lacks precise spatial detail regarding their exact locations along the road. Furthermore, there is some redundant repetition, such as repeatedly mentioning that the main hospital building remained unchanged. To reach a higher band, the response would need to integrate the comparisons more fluidly and extend the descriptions of spatial relationships with greater clarity and precision throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organise information logically, starting with an overview and proceeding into specific spatial changes. However, cohesion is often faulty or mechanical, relying on repetitive transitional phrases such as 'At the fleeting glance' and 'Moving ahead'. Paragraphing is underutilized, resulting in a text that feels clumped together rather than properly structured into distinct thematic paragraphs. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as ambiguous pronouns where it is difficult to determine whether the student refers to the public car park or the staff parking. To improve, the writer should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive devices and organise the response into clear paragraphs that guide the reader smoothly through the spatial comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items such as 'vanished', 'constructed', and 'roundabout'. However, there are numerous spelling errors and inaccurate word choices throughout the text, such as 'imformation', 'acess', 'diffrent-diffrent', 'publicand', and 'infront of'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score because they show a lack of precision and control. To reach a higher band, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary, improve spelling accuracy, and ensure that word forms and collocations are used correctly and naturally when describing geographical and infrastructural changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like relative clauses and time-dependent comparisons. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a new roundabout is constructed... infront of hospital road'), prepositions ('in the year of 2007'), and tense consistency ('later they will be vanished and a new bus station will constructed'). Punctuation is also weak, with missing spaces after commas and periods. These errors reflect the characteristics of a lower band, although the meaning remains largely intelligible. To achieve a higher score, the student must exercise better control over verb tenses when describing past maps, use articles more accurately, and eliminate basic structural errors.
