Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by attempting to outline the main changes in the hospital road access between 2007 and 2010. However, some features are under-developed or described with lack of clarity. For example, the description of the car parks and roundabouts reads slightly confused, stating that the public car parking was 'converted in the specific area in 2010, recorded in the beside to city hospital.' An overview is present at the beginning, but it is somewhat basic ('there was so many changes in 2010'). To reach a higher band, the student should provide a clearer, more precise overview of the major shifts and ensure all spatial descriptions are fully developed without ambiguity.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure by moving from an introductory summary into body paragraphs detailing specific infrastructural changes. Paragraphing is used to separate ideas, though cohesion is occasionally mechanical and referencing is not always clear, such as the abrupt transition in 'After anlayzing the maps...' and the vague pronominal referencing in 'recorded in the beside to city hospital.' Cohesive devices are somewhat repetitive or basic. To progress further, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive links more naturally and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'pictorial representation', 'newly established', and 'infrastructure' equivalents. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies, inappropriate word choices, and spelling errors that slightly impede communication, such as 'so many changes' instead of 'numerous changes', 'joint together' instead of 'connected', 'anlayzing', and awkward prepositional collocations like 'in the beside to'. To achieve a higher score, the student needs to demonstrate more precision in word choice and collocation, alongside careful proofreading to eliminate spelling and form mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over basic structures. Nevertheless, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly involving subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'two roundabout establish' instead of 'two roundabouts were established', 'at both side' instead of 'on both sides', and missing articles before singular nouns. Although these errors rarely impede overall communication entirely, their persistent presence across sentences keeps the grammatical score at this level. Incorporating a greater variety of error-free complex structures would lift this score.
