Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response meets the task only minimally and fails to reach the required minimum length of 150 words, stopping at 130 words. While the writer attempts to present an overview and mention some changes between 2007 and 2010, the information is conveyed very simply and lacks adequate detail. Important features such as the relocation of the public car park, the removal of individual bus stops, and the introduction of a new bus station are only partially and vaguely described. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 150 words and provide a more fully developed, accurate summary of all key visual changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response shows some organisation by dividing the information into an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for 2007 and 2010. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow is disrupted by repetitive phrasing and weak mechanical linking. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences within paragraphs feel disjointed rather than logically sequenced. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to connect ideas smoothly across sentences and paragraphs, ensuring a clear and natural progression of information from the introduction through to the final details.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For instance, words like 'formal' are used instead of 'former', 'hosptal' contains a spelling error, and phrases like 'personal staff car parking' are awkward. There are also issues with collocations and parts of speech, such as 'many facilities are provide'. To move up, you should build a broader range of vocabulary, use less common lexical items accurately, and carefully check your spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors. Attempts at more complex descriptions often result in faulty grammar, such as missing articles ('at east side of city hospital'), incorrect verb forms ('bus station was build'), and missing prepositions or subject-verb agreement issues. Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, with lowercase letters starting sentences and misplaced punctuation. To improve, you need to use a wider mix of sentence structures and exercise greater control over basic grammar, tense selection, and article usage to ensure your meaning is clear.
