Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting an overview of the key changes between the 2007 and 2010 hospital access maps and supporting this with relevant details. The overall trend is stated, noting the construction of roundabouts and the relocation of parking facilities. However, some features are slightly under-developed or imprecise. For instance, the exact locations and layout of the new bus station and car parks could have been more fully contrasted with the individual bus stops from 2007 to reach a higher level of development. Nevertheless, the main features are appropriately selected and reported, fulfilling the requirements for a solid performance at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression from introduction to overview, body paragraph for 2007, and body paragraph for 2010. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two time periods. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. Devices such as 'Moreover' and 'However' are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'They construct two roundabout'. To achieve a higher band, the transitions between sentences could be smoother, and cohesive devices should be integrated more flexibly to avoid a repetitive structural flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but lexical limitations and errors prevent a higher score. The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'relocated', 'accomplising', and 'seperated', but these attempts are marred by spelling and word-form errors like 'accessbility', 'accomplising', and 'seperated'. Word choices are sometimes basic or imprecise, such as 'right side' instead of 'eastern side'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, the frequency of spelling slips and limited lexical flexibility keep the response firmly within this band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'In 2007, on the north side of hospital there was a ring road...' and 'In 2010, the built two roundabout one on the city road and second at hospital road thats directly goes to city hospital.' However, grammatical control is weak, with frequent basic errors including missing articles ('on north side of hospital'), subject-verb agreement issues ('the built two roundabout'), and incorrect prepositional patterns. Attempts at complex clauses result in structural slips and punctuation lapses. To improve, the student needs to enhance accuracy in basic sentence construction, article usage, and verb forms.
