Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting an overview of the main changes between 2007 and 2010 and selecting relevant features, such as the new bus station, roundabouts, and rearranged car parking facilities. A clear position is maintained throughout the text. While the key developments are reported, some details are slightly generalized or lack complete extension, such as the precise positioning of the new public car park on the eastern side of the ring road. Overall, the information is well-selected and accurately reflects the provided visual data, placing the performance comfortably within the targeted band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introductory summary to the body paragraph details. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the specific comparisons. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, as seen in the transition 'To commence' and minor referencing issues like 'after three yaers it was changed with different spots'. Transitional devices are present but could be managed more flexibly and smoothly to ensure a more natural flow between sentences and ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the main spatial changes and features such as 'ring road', 'roundabouts', and 'car parking'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'extensive' and 'network', but there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'yaers', 'westren', 'hopistal', and 'staff a car parking constructed'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect the limitations characteristic of this level. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to incorporate more precise lexical choices and eliminate basic spelling slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at complex structures such as relative clauses and prepositional phrases. However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('in new design of city hospital', 'on northern and westren side'), incorrect prepositions ('on both side of hospital raod'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('road network become'). Fortunately, these errors rarely impede overall communication. Improving control over articles, prepositions, and singular-plural agreement will be essential for the writer to progress to more advanced grammatical scoring bands.
