Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to summarise the maps by noting some changes between 2007 and 2010—such as the addition of roundabouts and the relocation of car parks—the overall selection of information is incomplete and lacks clarity. For instance, the student states that "the ring road had the only journey to visit every city hospital places" and struggles to clearly explain the spatial layout of the bus station and car parks. The overview is weak and fails to present a clear, comprehensive summary of the main developments, leading to under-developed ideas throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text displays some organisation with paragraph breaks and basic sequencing words like "Initally", "In addition", and "On the other hand", but there is no clear overall progression. Ideas are often abruptly introduced without smooth transitions, and referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial relationships on the maps. For example, sentences such as "Additionally, city road may aceess to every spots wth the support of roundabout in the city hospital" lack logical connection to the surrounding text. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, and paragraphing does not successfully guide the reader through a logical comparison of the two years.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "innovate", "independent located", and "region", but these demonstrate inaccurate word choice and faulty collocations. There are also frequent spelling and word formation errors, such as "Initally", "aceess", "wth", and "presents", which reveal a restricted control of lexical features. While the meaning can sometimes be guessed, the noticeable errors and repetitive use of basic terms cause difficulty and strain for the reader throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or awkwardly constructed sentences. Attempts at more complex structures are consistently faulty, as seen in "the city hospital construct 2 roundabout its connect between hospital road that may utilize for going to bus station and city road." There are frequent, persistent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, and articles—for example, "two roundabout its connect" and "each bus stops are presented". These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader, although basic meaning is occasionally salvaged.
