Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, containing only 68 words (with 8 words copied from the prompt left uncounted). Because of this severe under-length, the task is addressed only minimally. While the student attempts to present an overview and mention some changes, such as the removal and replacement of bus facilities, the information provided is extremely fragmentary and cuts off mid-sentence. Key features of the maps, such as the new roundabouts and modified car parks, are omitted entirely, preventing any full or adequate development of the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response demonstrates some organizational structure through the use of an introductory sentence and an overall summary statement ('Overall, the diagram has undergone significant redevelopment...'). However, because the text stops abruptly after just a few sentences and consists of only one incomplete paragraph body, there is no clear overall progression or sustained logical development. Cohesive devices are minimally used, and referencing breaks down as the text terminates mid-thought before any detailed comparison of the maps can be fully achieved.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, showing a limited range appropriate for this level. There are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'path of direction reaching to a city hospital' instead of 'road access to a city hospital'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary like 'redevelopment', but collocation and word choice errors, including 'northern east side' and 'replaced to the southern west', restrict the precision needed for a higher band. Spelling is generally accurate within the limited text produced.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or basic complex frames. There are noticeable errors in grammar and prepositions, such as 'routes to city hospital was same' (subject-verb agreement and article omission) and 'replaced to the southern west' (incorrect prepositional pattern). Attempted complex structures are faulty, and frequent basic errors persist within the short text, though they do not entirely obscure the basic intent of the fragmented sentences.
