Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the two years and mention several relevant changes, including separate staff and public parking, bus facilities, and roundabouts. However, the map description is often inaccurate or too unclear to establish the layout: for example, “the left hand side is a only bus stop” does not accurately describe the three stops on each side of Hospital Road in 2007, and the 2010 bus station is not clearly distinguished from the former stops. The overview is also missing, so the main transformation is not summarised. Some details, such as “200m,” are unsupported by the maps. The response is three words below the required minimum. To improve, give a clear overview, accurately compare the key changes, and avoid adding measurements not shown.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response by year, moving from 2007 to 2010, and phrases such as “in 2010” signal a change in time. However, the ideas do not progress clearly within either description. The opening sentence is difficult to interpret, and later references such as “the left hand side,” “the front,” and “this hospital” do not make clear which feature or location is meant. Connections between the bus station, roundabouts, and car parks are also hard to follow. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and each map, then describe locations consistently using north, south, east, and west. Clear linking phrases such as “By 2010” and “In addition” would help show the comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt some task-related vocabulary, including “car park,” “bus stop,” “staff,” “public,” and “roundabout,” which shows awareness of the map topic. However, word choice and spelling are often inaccurate or unclear, and several phrases do not convey a precise meaning: “other involvements,” “present era,” “seprtate,” and “new mwke” are examples. “Bus stop” is also used where the 2010 feature is a bus station, which changes the meaning. Repetition of “left hand side” limits precision. Build a reliable set of map vocabulary—such as “located to the east of,” “was replaced by,” and “direct access”—and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes attempts at longer sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and sentence structures often make relationships between features difficult to understand. For example, “the transformation that has been done in the 2007 from 2010” has an unclear tense and construction, while “the city hospital 2007 is a car park staff and public area” lacks a clear subject–complement relationship. Articles and prepositions are also unreliable, as in “a only bus stop” and “in distance in 200m.” Most sentences rely on simple or incomplete patterns rather than a controlled range. Practise clear comparison structures, such as “In 2010, the bus stops were replaced by a bus station,” and check sentence boundaries, articles, and prepositions.
