Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the topic and mention two relevant changes: the bus stops were removed and a bus station was introduced. However, the response is incomplete and does not provide a clear, accurate overview of the main changes. The statement that “Many roundabouts are added” is imprecise: the 2010 map shows two roundabouts, while the 2007 map shows none. The description also stops mid-sentence at “Moreover multiple,” leaving important features unreported, including the separation of the staff and public car parks and the new public car park beside Ring Road. The response contains 75 words, below the required 150. To improve, complete the comparison and report the key changes in both maps accurately and selectively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by an overview and then a detail about the 2007 bus stops. This gives the reader some sense of the intended progression. However, the organisation is not sustained because the final paragraph breaks off at “Moreover multiple,” and the comparison between the two years is not developed. The connector “Beside that” does not clearly express the relationship between the ideas, and “Overall” introduces an overview that is difficult to follow. Use complete paragraphs and connect each change explicitly—for example, describe the 2007 layout first, then explain what was altered by 2010. Clear sequencing would make the information easier to understand.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “road access,” “bus stops,” “roundabouts,” “bus station,” and “staff car park.” These terms show that you can identify several features of the maps. However, the range is limited, and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “changes of road access,” “Many roundabouts,” and “in the structure of a city hospital has done few changes.” The unfinished phrase “Moreover multiple” also prevents the intended meaning from being communicated. Aim for precise map-description language, such as “was converted into,” “was added,” and “was replaced by,” and name the specific features rather than using vague wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both a simple opening sentence and a more complex overview, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “The City hospital in 2007 have six bus stop” has subject–verb agreement and plural errors; “which are now removed” uses an unsuitable verb form; and “in the structure of a city hospital has done few changes” has an incomplete, incorrectly formed clause. Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “Overall, Many.” The final sentence fragment means the response does not demonstrate sustained control across a complete description. Practise accurate past-tense comparisons, such as “There were six bus stops in 2007, but they had been removed by 2010,” and check agreement, articles, and plurals.
