Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two years and mention several important changes, including the roundabouts, the bus station and the separation of parking. However, the account only partially reports the map: the 2007 bus stops are described imprecisely as being “at the east,” and the new public car park is not clearly located east of the Ring Road with access from it. The overview is also unclear (“many developments” and “mainly invention bigger public car park”) rather than summarising the main transformation. The claim that the bus station was “replaced with car park” misrepresents the layout: the bus stops were replaced by a station, while the original car park became staff-only and a separate public car park was added. Select the main changes accurately and explain their locations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an opening, an attempted overview and a sequence from 2007 to 2010, so the reader can recognise the intended comparison. However, progression is not consistently clear: the overview repeats general statements about “developments,” and the first body paragraph combines the Ring Road, City Road, parking and bus stops without a clear spatial order. Linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “Then,” and “Furthermore” provide some structure, but several connections are awkward or do not clarify how features relate. For example, “bus station replaced with car park and also connects both rounabouts” leaves the subject and relationship unclear. Organise the report into a concise overview followed by one paragraph for each map, using clear references to locations and changes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “roundabouts,” “public car park,” and “bus station,” which helps convey the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “road development,” “many developments,” “new inventions,” and “the mainly invention bigger public car park.” “Bus stop” and “bus station” are also not interchangeable here, which affects the accuracy of the description. Spelling errors such as “devlopments,” “Morever,” and “rounabouts” are noticeable. Aim for precise verbs and location phrases, for example “was converted into,” “was added,” and “to the east of the Ring Road,” and check spelling before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few longer sentences and uses time references to compare the maps, but sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently. Examples include “The two maps under illustrates,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “the city hospital have,” which also needs a singular verb. Articles and sentence construction are often missing or faulty, as in “according to map in 2010 city hospital have many developments.” The final sentence joins several ideas without a clear grammatical relationship, making the meaning difficult to follow. Use controlled simple sentences first, then add clauses with accurate subjects and verbs—for example, “In 2010, two roundabouts were added to Hospital Road.” Review agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
