Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main change from a shared staff-and-public car park to separate parking areas, and you mention the new bus station and roundabouts. These are relevant features and show a partial understanding of the maps. However, some important details are unclear or inaccurate: the Ring Road is described as being used only by ambulances, which the maps do not indicate, and the claim that the hospital area became “busy with public” is not supported by the visual information. The overview, “They are also same but have a few change,” is too vague to summarise the overall transformation. To strengthen the response, clearly state that the bus stops were replaced by a bus station and that access roads were reorganised with roundabouts, while avoiding unsupported explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic chronological structure, moving from 2007 to 2010, and the separate paragraphs help distinguish the two maps. Some linking expressions, such as “In the 2010 city hospital” and “They are also same,” attempt to connect the information. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several features are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences. Repeated references to “the front” and “the side” do not always make the locations clear, and the final comparison does not specify what remained unchanged. Organise the report into a brief overview followed by one paragraph for each map, and use precise references such as “east of Hospital Road” to make relationships clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “Ring road,” “roundabout,” “bus station,” and “public parking,” so the reader can recognise several key features. However, the range is limited and many phrases are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “cars parks of public or staff,” “a like circle,” and “made a busy with public.” There are also frequent spelling errors in key terms, such as “hosptial,” “hosiptal,” and “amblance.” Build a more precise set of location and change phrases, and check spelling carefully; this will help you describe the maps without relying on vague wording such as “side” or “front.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to communicate comparisons across two time points, but sentence structures are mostly simple or incomplete, and attempts to combine ideas often contain errors. For example, “The maps show that other side of road a city hosptial are very change” has problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction; “In the 2010 city hospital, was very change” also lacks a clear subject and correctly formed verb. Tense and agreement are inconsistent, as in “They are make.” These errors frequently make relationships between features hard to follow. Practise complete subject–verb sentences in the past tense, such as “In 2010, the shared car park was divided into separate staff and public car parks,” and use shorter sentences before attempting more complex comparisons.
