Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the two years and mention several relevant features, including the ring road, car parks and bus access. However, the comparison is only minimally developed: the response does not clearly report the main changes, such as the bus stops being replaced by a bus station, the staff/public parking arrangement changing, or the new public car park beside the ring road. Some statements are unclear or inaccurate, for example, “do not near by the bus station” for 2007 and “attach the bus station in the hospital road” for 2010. There is no clear overview of the overall changes. The response is also 142 words, below the required 150; develop the key comparisons to meet the minimum and cover the map information more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic sequence: an opening, a general statement, and paragraphs beginning “First of all” and “Secondly” for the two years. This gives the reader some indication of how the information is organised. However, ideas within these sections are not arranged clearly, and several points are repeated, such as the hospital being near the ring road. Frequent sentence fragments and abrupt full stops make relationships between details difficult to follow; for example, “Overall, the two maps including to the diagram. and the two hospital is the 2007 and 2010.” The linking phrases do not create a clear comparison between years. Group related changes together and use complete sentences with clear references to each map.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant map-related words, including “ring road,” “car park,” “bus station,” and “city road,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions strain understanding. “Nera” appears repeatedly instead of “near,” while “saprate” and “inclouding” are also misspelled. Phrases such as “the two type of the hospital” and “attach the bus station” do not express the intended map features naturally. Build a more precise range for describing locations and changes, such as “located to the east of,” “was replaced by,” and “a new public car park was added.” Check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

There are attempts to use simple sequencing and location statements, but sentence structures are very limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes obscuring meaning. For example, “The two maps below shows” has subject–verb disagreement, and “the two hospital is the 2007 and 2010” has incorrect number and sentence construction. Many clauses are joined with full stops and “and,” as in “and the hospital near by the ring road.and inclouding…,” leaving fragments rather than complete sentences. Articles, prepositions and verb forms are also often missing or incorrectly used. Practise writing clear subject–verb sentences in the past tense for the maps, then combine related details with accurate connectors and punctuation.
