Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two years and mention several relevant changes, including the bus stops being replaced by a bus station and the separation of staff and public parking. However, the account only partially reports the maps: the new public car park’s position and direct access from Ring Road are not clearly described, and the two roundabouts are not accurately explained as being at the Ring Road and City Road junctions. Some statements are confusing or contradictory, such as saying the hospital entrance is City Road and then describing a roundabout and Hospital Road. The overview also claims the hospital “completely” changed, although its location and surrounding roads largely remain. A clearer overview and more precise comparison of the main changes would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response is divided into paragraphs and uses basic linking expressions such as “Overall,” “On the other hand,” and “In contrast.” These provide some signposting, but the ideas do not progress in a clear sequence. The second and final paragraphs repeat or contradict information already given, and the final paragraph begins “In contrast” without making a clear comparison. References such as “its situated in north side” are difficult to connect to the public car park or hospital. Organise the report into a concise overview followed by a paragraph on the 2007 layout and one on the 2010 changes. Use linking words only where the relationship between details is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “Hospital Road,” “bus station,” and “staff car parking,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the map description unclear: “road direction,” “remains completely change,” and “parking … is out off the hospital ground” do not express the intended relationships naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “entrace,” “publuc,” and “situatecd,” which reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of location and change phrases, such as “to the east of,” “was converted into,” and “was added,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts longer sentences with contrast clauses, for example “Although In 2007…” and “While the entrance…,” but these structures are often incomplete or difficult to follow. Errors in tense, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout: “It is Clearly show,” “the City hospital … remains completely change,” and “City Hospital is situated a ring road” are examples. Several sentences join multiple ideas without clear punctuation, making relationships between locations and changes hard to understand. Use straightforward present or past forms consistently when describing the maps, and check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb. Shorter, accurately formed comparisons would improve clarity while you develop more complex structures.
